VetPlus Vetsalve for Cats & Dogs is a topical wound care ointment, suitable for the local treatment of infected and non-infected, acute and chronic wounds, as well as skin abrasions.

Vetsalve contains the unique ingredient, Norwegian spruce resin, in an oil-base.This forms an oily layer on the skin surface and supports the natural systems that control the skin barrier. Norwegian spruce resin is produced naturally by Norwegian spruce trees 3-4 weeks after they undergo any type of natural damage.

It then hardens on the tree trunk and is collected by hand. The resin has been used for many years traditionally in Finland, to support the skin barrier.

Vetsalve should be applied using the following steps:

  • Clip the hair around the area and clean the wound
  • Apply sparingly (1-2mm) directly onto the wound. Apply a breathable dressing to the area if required.
  • On deep wounds, apply directly to the wound bed
  • Apply one to two times daily. The amount of wound exudate is often higher in the beginning of the would healing process and reduces over time. Once the amount of wound exudate reduces, Vetsalve can be applied once every other day.
